3.1 Phillip Lim, based in New York, is a high-end fashion label with retail stores spanning the globe. The company sought a space in LA’s Arts District to house a new retail concept displaying art, furniture, home objects and their fashion line. Significant building deficiencies had to be overcome to create a light-filled and novel retail concept.
Focused on the client objectives of speed to opening and limit costs related to building improvements, the project incorporated a series of freestanding furniture-like interventions to define spaces and present product at a significantly lower cost and higher impact than conventional solutions.
