Approached by a couple with a deep commitment to sustainability to age-in-place and host their visiting family, this home was constructed of compressed earth block (CEB) construction fabricated on-site using locally sourced materials.
The first CEB of its kind in California in decades, the structure was clad in highly insulating and carbon beneficial hempcrete, is passive-solar in design, and features photovoltiac panels to provide 100% of the home’s energy requirements. Planned around future flexibility, this structure is the first phase of a multi-structure family compound.
