Following the successful execution of BUCK’s Sydney offices in 2023, Terrain continued their collaboration with the global agency with their new Los Angeles headquarters, which was recently awarded LEED Gold Certification for its exemplary energy performance and sustainability features.

BUCK, an Emmy-award winning creative agency with five offices across four countries, is known for its varied and innovative design solutions.

BUCK wanted their Los Angeles location to be situated within a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly neighborhood and purchased a well-suited six-story building, formerly a bank, in Little Tokyo to serve as their new headquarters. Through an extensive strategy and masterplanning process, Terrain devised a scheme to eliminate physical barriers between floors to facilitate meeting, collaboration and interaction between departments. A novel workstation and infrastructure design allowed for functional groups to rearrange themselves with minimal assistance to create work settings that support diverse and quickly changing project requirements.

The project’s focal point was centered around a gathering and dining area with a grand staircase which doubles as a platform for presentations. Reconfigurable enclosed rooms were created to quickly transform from office, to meeting room to war rooms. All-gender restrooms, a gym and wellness room; and a coffee bar were created to support the client’s commitment to staff wellness and equity. Designed during the covid pandemic, the space features UV and progressive HVAC filtration as well as high ventilation rates to ensure staff wellness.
