In collaboration with designer Alonzo de Garay, Terrain repurposed two, century-old warehouse spaces and courtyards into a new restaurant for internationally renowned chef, Enrique Olvera. Classified as unreinforced masonry structures, the project benefited from Terrain’s sophisticated building code knowledge to devise an unconventional scheme that achieved life-safety requirements at a fraction of the cost that would have otherwise been required.

We worked closely with City of Los Angeles departments to legalize decades of un-permitted work and irregular construction. The space retained its historic industrial roots but brings an upscale feel with dramatic lighting, custom-designed seating and casework elements, and lush planters. Nestled in Damian’s rear patio is its more casual taco window, Ditroit.
